We work with shops, clinics and workshops in Harda, and the local search picture here is different from what the SEO blogs describe. There are fewer competitors, so ranking is less about beating someone and more about proving you exist and are still open.
One: your Google Business Profile has to be complete
Categories, service area, hours, phone number and photos. Not one photo from 2019 — a handful of recent ones. Google weights the profile heavily for the map pack, and an incomplete profile loses to a complete one even when the complete one is a worse business.
Claim it, verify it, and keep the hours correct. Every month someone's profile says they close at 6pm and the shop is open until 8. That one field decides whether a customer drives over.
Two: reviews, asked for honestly
The business with forty reviews outranks the business with two, and there is no shortcut. Ask every customer at the end of the job. Reply to every review, including the bad ones, in plain language and without arguing. A politely answered complaint reads better than a wall of five-star reviews with no replies.
Three: one page per service, with the town in it
A single "Services" page listing twelve things ranks for none of them. A page for each service, written by someone who does the work, mentioning Harda and the surrounding towns naturally, ranks for that search. This is the same reason our own service pages each have their own URL.
Four: your name, address and phone must match everywhere
Whatever you put on the profile has to be identical on your website, on the directory listings and on any social page. "Shop No. 4, New Bus Stand Road" and "4, Bus Stand Rd" are the same place to a human and two places to a search engine.
Five: load fast on a phone on mobile data
Most local searches happen on a phone, often on a weak connection. A site that takes eight seconds to become usable loses the customer before they read your address. Compressed images, a hosted font and a page that renders without JavaScript will do more for your local ranking than any keyword work.
What we tell people not to bother with
Buying backlinks, submitting to five hundred free directories, and stuffing the town name into every sentence. In a district town, none of these beat a complete profile that is updated and a site that loads.
